Martin Bodilsen Kaldahl's Retrospective Exhibition Receives Award from Danish Arts Foundation

Martin Bodilsen Kaldahl is the recepient of an award from the Danish Arts Foundation for his exhibition Cuts, Stripes, and Knots – A Ceramic Retrospective at the CLAY Museum of Ceramic Art in Denmark.

“The exhibition is an explosion of works installed within a stringent grid. It is a tour de force, that fully and in a surprising manner shows the life-long production of an artist. It is a courageous concept to gather this many works in one space. Still, at the same time, the exhibition succeds in giving each singular sculpture its own space within the space.

Martin Bodilsen Kaldahl masters a precise formal handling of his material and simultaneously he keeps a sharp eye for the monumental within the insignificant. There is a moving striving in his work to create the conditions for shaping an intuitive, almost improvisatory spatial form. The exhibition format emphasizes the artist's playful and informal approach to art production, while each artwork stands out with precision, presence and with a pronounced sensibility towards both material and form." - The Danish Arts Foundation
